Chai and Chapati

S*Poo Nai's Chai and Chapati is a red cat. He has got his name from the color of the charcoal fire. The fire is used to boil water and milk for the Indian tea, chai, as well as to heat the griddle to make Chapati (in the same way as pancakes). Chapatis are round thin bread, eaten especially in northern India. The chai is tea with milk and sugar, and sometimes also spices like cardamum, cloves, and cinnamon. With spices it is called Massala Chai.

Here is a recipe for chapatis and here you can see how to make chai. (But mixing you own spices is more fun than just adding a massala). Tea stall. Photo: Suzanne Wejland.
